Settlement Revives Wrongly Denied or Closed
UNUM PROVIDENT Long Term Disability Claims

215,000 PREVIOUSLY DENIED CLAIMS ELIGIBLE
FOR A NEW REVIEW AND DECISION!!!

Under pressure from State regulatory agencies, Unum Provident agrees to reopen disability insurance claims which were denied or closed since January 1, 1997.

Erisa claims are part of the reassessment program agreed to by Unum Provident at the urging of many State regulators and the Federal Government.

Five Unum Provident subsidiaries are included in settlement:
  • Unum Life Insurance Company of America
  • The Paul Revere Life Insurance Company
  • Provident Life and Casualty Insurance Company
  • Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company
  • First Unum Life Insurance Company

Unum Provident and its subsidiaries are required to notify all claimants denied benefits after January 1, 2000, while those denied benefits between January 1, 1997, and January 1, 2000, must take the lead in applying to their insurers for the review.

To discuss or ask questions about what this settlement may mean to your disability income claim, whether pending or previously denied or closed by Unum or its subsidiaries, call attorney Michael Quiat of Uscher, Quiat, Uscher & Russo at (201) 342-7100 or e-mail him at mquiat@uqur.com.
